A child's bedroom is his/her playroom and that's where you want them to feel content and relaxed.
When deciding to redo a child's bedroom, we often go for a theme around their favourite colour or cartoon character... but how do we know we're making the right choice or going in the right direction?
The first thing to do is choose a design. Make sure you take the child's inputs while you draw out a plan, however, keep in mind that the practicalities are down to you.
While choosing colours, make sure you go for mellow colours. Avoid dark 'angry' colours. These colours can sometimes have a negative effect on your child, which you will notice right away.
A child just can't be stopped from scribbling on the walls, so keeping that in mind, it is advisable to use washable paints. This makes your job of cleaning the room much easier. Do not keep the painted room closed. See to it that there is enough ventilation. Paint fumes are not healthy for you or your child!
Keep the child interested at all times. Make him feel like it is his room. If he is interested, give him a brush and allow him to paint. You can always paint over it with a second coat.
Remember! Accidents do happen, they cannot be avoided. However, you can minimise the damage by making sure that the things placed in the room do not have any sharp edges.
